Winter car storage near Tunbridge Wells

A dry, secure home for your car through the salt and the wet months.

Winter is hard on a car that is only driven now and then. Salt on the roads, damp and short days all take their toll, so many owners lay theirs up from the autumn until the spring. Our facility is just off the A21 on the Kent border, 10 miles from Tunbridge Wells, and our minimum term of 3 months fits a winter lay-up well.

Every car is kept indoors in a secure, alarmed and dry storage area, under a luxury cotton cover, and the facility is manned 7 days a week.

When to lay your car up for winter

Most owners bring their car in during October or November, before the gritters go out, and collect it again in March or April. You choose the start date when you book, and the minimum term is 3 months.

Our guide to preparing a car for winter storage covers what to do before it comes in, from washing and tyres to tax and SORN.

Which package suits a winter lay-up

Storage Type B keeps your car connected to your battery conditioner, which suits most modern cars, because their electronics keep drawing on the battery while they stand. Storage Type C adds a monthly engine start, run up to temperature. Storage Type A suits an older car whose battery you would rather disconnect or take home.

Not sure which? Our posts on disconnecting a battery for storage and how often to start a stored car explain the difference.

What a winter in storage costs

The minimum term of 3 months is 13 weeks, which comes to Storage Type A £390, Storage Type B £455 and Storage Type C £520. A full six months, October to March, is 26 weeks: Storage Type A £780, Storage Type B £910 and Storage Type C £1,040.

Every package and what it includes is on our pricing page.

While your car is with us

The tyres are rolled regularly so they do not settle into flat spots, and the car stays under its cotton cover in a dry building. Our guide to preventing flat spots on stored tyres explains why it matters over a long lay-up.

If you would rather not drive the car to us, we can arrange collection and delivery. When the spring comes, give us at least 24 hours' notice, online, by phone or on WhatsApp, and the car will be ready.
